Trying to finish up a 20-minute pastel pencil drawing from a life drawing workshop. I enjoy working out art anatomy studies in these sessions – it’s a lifetime study. Rendering out the form in this medium takes some time for me. Onward.
Enjoyed a recent visit to the Wildlife Waystation. Posted a few photos taken on our guided tour. Wildlife Waystation Flickr Album
While taking a lunch break we were treated to a peacock display on a recent visit to the Wildlife Waystation.
Took a few photos while at the Getty Center for the J.M.W. Turner – Painting Set Free exhibition. Seeing the artwork in person is an opportunity to see Turner’s marvelous brushwork. His watercolor pieces are exceptional.
With no model for this class session, we needed a photo to draw. Found an old Parson Designs portfolio catalog that included a nice black and white photo of a child. I decided to use some 9X12 toned gessoed watercolor paper that I prepped earlier. It was my first time using this surface with charcoals. Wasn’t used to the gessoed texture but liked that it took a lot of wear from the charcoals and erasers.
