At last class we focussed on painting a composition near eye-level. This setup had a nice tablecloth that draped nicely in tonal contrast.
Working a bit more with new Apple Pencil on the iPadPro using the Artrage painting app. Artrage has made much needed and timely improvements in performance. This study used the oil and palette knife brushes.
We had a nice patriotic themed still life setup to paint. Almost finished with it but wanted to share the progress so far on this day.
I enjoyed my first oil painting class in many years and will continue taking it. One of the last paintings was my favorite because of the appealing shapes and colors of bell peppers and bananas.
Worked on a canvas pad which seemed to hold and work the oil paints fairly well. Still trying to work with larger brushes and strokes at start of a composition to keep things loose as I don’t aim for hyperrealism at all(!)
It’s been over 30 year since I attempted oil painting (a couple of landscape classes). After figure drawing these past couple of years I thought it time to try it again. This first still life on canvas pad is painted not using any solvents (turpentine, etc.). Our instructor has shown those of us using oils to use linseed oil only and soap and water for cleaning. I do not mind at all skipping the solvents!
